Is Rodger Saffold injured?

Rodger Saffold

Rodger Saffold, a veteran offensive lineman with the Bills, was involved in a car accident and will start training camp on the non-football injury (NFI) list, according to head coach Sean McDermott. In the mishap that occurred just a few weeks ago, Saffold “broke some ribs,” according to McDermott, which is why he is on the NFI list as camp gets underway.

McDermott stated on the team website, “We’re constantly worried for the men off the field. “Of course, everyone else involved in the accident is the same. But we are convinced that he will return when expected.”

Saffold spent the previous three seasons with the Titans before agreeing to a one-year contract with the Bills back in March. He is anticipated to start at left guard when healthy. In 2021, the 34-year-old played for Tennessee and started 15 games, earning him a spot in the Pro Bowl. Saffold had previously spent the majority of his career with the Rams, who had taken him out of Indiana in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

According to Pro Football Focus, Saffold had a 96.8 efficiency rating last year while allowing 26 pressures and two sacks. In terms of run blocking, he was ranked as the ninth-best guard in the NFL by PFF.
