The Washington Commanders of the National Football League are led by running back Joshua Dobbie “J. D” McKissic. He is 1.78 m tall and 88 kg in weight. He attended Central High School, where he played high school football. He decided to go to Arkansas State University after high school, where he played college football for the Arkansas State Red Wolves.

He collected 103 receptions, 1,022 yards receiving, was named the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, and was a Scripps Freshman All-American in 2012. His college career was concluded with 289 receptions for 2,838 yards and 11 touchdowns. McKissic chose the Atlanta Falcons as his new team after going undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft. He was claimed off waivers by the Seattle Seahawks in December 2016.

In September 2019, the Detroit Lions claimed him after he cleared waivers. In addition to participating in all 16 games of that season and starting three of them, he also had 38 carries for 205 running yards and a total of 34 receptions for 233 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown. In March 2020, McKissic signed a two-year contract with the Washington Commanders Football Team. He suffered a concussion and was subsequently placed on injured reserve.
