American first baseman Joseph John Matijevic, born on November 14, 1995, plays for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball. In 2022, he made his MLB debut.
Matijevic played basketball and baseball while a student at Norwin High School in North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. In the 22nd round of the 2014 MLB Draft, the Boston Red Sox selected him as a shortstop.

He was promoted by the Astros to the Buies Creek Astros of Class A Advanced Carolina League in May. He hit.277/.350/.538 with 22 home runs and 62 RBIs in 101 games for both teams.
In the Class AA Texas League, he began the year with the Corpus Christi Hooks.
In 2022, the Astros called Matijevic to Spring Training. He was sent to Triple-A Sugar Land, who had changed their name to the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, after failing to make the club at the start of the season.
