Jacob *Jake* Bailey is a professional football punter for the National Football League’s New England Patriots. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona, in the United States, on June 18, 1997. He graduated from Santa Fe Christian High. He played college football for the Stanford Cardinal football team at Stanford University after graduating from high school. He once had the longest punt in Stanford history, measuring 84 yards.
He punted 185 times over the course of four years, averaging 43.8 yards per kick to lead the team overall in punt average. He received two honorable mentions for Pac-12 All-Academic honors and three All-Pac-12 honors in total. The New England Patriots selected him in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
He committed to the National Football League’s New England Patriots in 2019 in a 4-year, $2,808,980 contract. However, as a result of his Pro Bowl selection in 2021, he will earn $3,986,000 in 2022. He was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week on September 25, 2019. In Week 11, he was once more named the American Football Conference’s Special Teams Player of the Week.
He became the first punter for the Patriots to get such recognition when he was named to the first team of the 2020 AP All-Pro in January 2021. Bailey and the Patriots agreed to a four-year, $13.5 million contract extension through the 2025 season in August 2022.
