Jacob Shawn Marisnick is an outfielder in Major League Baseball for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He has played for the Chicago Cubs, Miami Marlins, Houston Astros, New York Mets, and San Diego Padres in the Major League Baseball (MLB).

Marisnick was selected in the third round of the 2009 MLB draft by the Toronto Blue Jays.

Jake Marisnick Career With The Houston Astros

Marisnick, Colin Moran, Francis Martes, and a compensatory draft pick were traded to the Houston Astros on July 31, 2014, for Jarsart, Enrique Hernández, and Austin Wates.

Marisnick had a .272 batting average with three home runs, 19 RBI, and six stolen bases in 51 games for the Astros in 2014. With a fielding percentage of .984 and a range factor of 2.57, he was also a great defender in the outfield.

On April 6, 2015, he started his first MLB game for the Astros. Over 133 games and 339 at bats, he concluded the 2015 season with a .236 average and a .665 OPS.

On April 25, 2016, after a disappointing start to the 2016 season, he was optioned to the Astros’ Triple-A affiliate, the Fresno Grizzlies of the Pacific Coast League.

On May 5, 2016, the Houston Astros recalled Marisnick. Marisnick and Tony Kemp resumed splitting center field duties when former Astros center fielder Carlos Gómez was designated for assignment.

Marisnick had a .243 batting average, 16 home runs, and 35 RBIs in 106 games in 2017. The Astros won the AL West pennant after ending the season with a record of 101–61, and went on to win the 2017 World Series, their first-ever.
