Jacob Thomas Matthews, an offensive lineman for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League, was born on February 11, 1992. In the 2014 NFL Draft, the Falcons selected him with the sixth overall choice.

He participated in college football at Texas A&M. He hails from the Matthews football-playing family. While a student at Missouri City’s Elkins High School, Matthews participated in offensive tackle for the Elkins Knights high school football team.

Matthews was ranked third on Pro Football Focus’ list of the year’s most improved players during that campaign. Matthews and the Falcons agreed to a three-year, $52.5 million agreement on March 14, 2022.
