Before becoming a professional football player, Dallas Cowboys long snapper Jake McQuaide used to deliver newspapers, caddie at Western Hills Country Club, and wash dishes and bus tables at Price Hill Chili.
McQuaide, who is now 34 years old, is the first person to graduate from Elder High School and go on to play in the Super Bowl. That reality serves as a wellspring of motivation and pride for his friends and family members.
McQuaide, who graduated from Elder in 2006, is now playing in his 12th season in the NFL. Before receiving a walk-on opportunity at Elder and then a full scholarship to play football at Ohio State, he played tight end and long snapper on the football team.
When McQuaide was in junior high, he played football on Schott Field, which is located on the campus of the nearby St. Antoninus Parish School. He started out as a goalkeeper for the soccer team, but by the time he reached sixth grade, he had switched positions. However, football was his true passion.
