The Astros traded Rogers, Franklin Pérez, and Daz Cameron to the Detroit Tigers for Justin Verlander on August 31, 2017.
After that, he was sent to the Lakeland Flying Tigers, with whom he appeared in two games.  Rogers hit.219 with 17 home runs and 56 RBIs in 99 games with the Erie SeaWolves in 2018.
Before being promoted to the Toledo Mud Hens, he returned to Erie to start 2019. Rogers has been named to the All-Star Futures Game for 2019.
The Tigers picked Rogers’ contract and promoted him to the major leagues on July 30, 2019. Between AA and AAA, he hit .250 with 14 home runs and 52 RBI while striking out 25 of 48 base stealers (52.1 percent ).
In the seventh inning, Rogers collected his first major league hit, an RBI single off Taylor Cole of the Los Angeles Angels.
On July 31, against the Angels’ José Suárez, Rogers hit his first major league home run. Rogers hit .125 with four home runs in 35 games for the Tigers. Rogers did not play for the Tigers in the 2020 season.
To begin the 2021 season, Rogers was optioned to the Tigers’ alternative training facility in Toledo. On May 7, he was recalled to the big league club.
Rogers was placed on the 10-day disabled list on July 19 due to a forearm strain. Rogers was placed on the 60-day disabled list by the Tigers on August 18 after the injury did not respond to treatment.
The Tigers revealed on September 8 that Rogers had Tommy John surgery and would be out for at least a year.
