A safety for the National Football League’s Arizona Cardinals, Jalen Thompson is a professional football player. He is 1.80 m tall and 86 kg in weight. He went to La Serna High School, where as a sophomore he was voted All-San Gabriel Valley League honorable mention. After his sophomore year, he transferred to Downey High School, where he played cornerback and wide receiver.
In his junior and senior years, he was named All-CIF and All-San Gabriel Valley League. Washington State University was the site of both his collegiate education and football career. He started all 39 of Washington State’s games he was a part of during his college career, recording 191 tackles, six interceptions, and 17 passes broken.
After being deemed ineligible for his final season at Washington State, he entered the 2019 NFL Supplemental Draft, and the Arizona Cardinals selected him in the fifth round. He and the Cardinals reached a four-year contract in July 2019. In September 2019, Thompson played in his first NFL game against the Detroit Lions. He made his first start of his career in October of this year.
He began the 2020 season as the Cardinals’ strong safety. On September 2, 2022, he decided to extend his contract with the Cardinals for a further three years and $40 million, with $24.5 million of that sum being guaranteed.
