Jalen Thompson plays safety for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League. He is 86 kg and 1.80 meters tall. He attended La Serna High School, where as a sophomore he was named honorable mention All-San Gabriel Valley League. He transferred to Downey High School after his sophomore year, where he played cornerback and wide receiver and was selected All-CIF and All-San Gabriel Valley League in his junior and senior years.

Both his college studies and his football career were completed at Washington State University. During his undergraduate career, he participated in all 39 of Washington State’s games, starting each one, and finished with 191 tackles, six interceptions, and 17 passes broken up.

He joined the 2019 NFL Supplemental Draft after being found ineligible for his final season at Washington State, and the Arizona Cardinals selected him in the fifth round. In July 2019, he agreed to a four-year deal with the Cardinals. In a matchup against the Detroit Lions in September 2019, Thompson made his NFL debut. In October 2019, he made his first start of his career.

He started as the Cardinals’ strong safety for the 2020 campaign. He agreed to a three-year, $40 million contract extension with the Cardinals through the 2025 campaign on September 2, 2022, with $24.5 million of that amount being guaranteed.
