James Cook played football for the Miami Central Senior High School squad. He transferred schools after his senior football season and finished his last semester of high school at Miami Northwestern Senior High School. After graduating from high school, he enrolled in the University of Georgia, where he played NCAA football for the Georgia Bulldogs.
He played in all 14 of Georgia’s games during his sophomore season, rushing 31 times for 188 yards and two scores and hauling in 16 passes for 132 yards. Cook finished the season as the team’s second-leading rusher with 303 yards and three touchdowns on 45 carries. He added two more touchdowns and caught 16 passes for 225 yards.
When the Bulldogs’ team won the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship, James was a senior. He gained 728 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground and 284 yards and four more on receptions. He was chosen by the Buffalo Bills in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
