James Ferentz Parents: Meet Kirk Ferentz and Mary Ferentz

Professional American football player James Ferentz is the center for the National Football League’s New England Patriots. He is 1.88 m tall and 136 kg in weight. In Iowa City, Iowa, at Iowa City High School, he participated in football. He attended and played collegiate football for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 2008 to 2012 at the University of Iowa after graduating from high school.

While attending the University, he was named to the second team of the Big Ten. In May 2014, the Houston Texans acquired his services. On December 30, 2014, he committed to the Texans by signing a reserve/futures contract. He was released by the Texans in September 2015. The Denver Broncos picked him up off waivers in that month. He appeared in 13 games during the 2015 regular season.

The Denver Broncos cut him loose in May 2017. The New England Patriots acquired him in May 2017. On September 2, 2017, he was released by the Patriots and later that day, he was added to the practice squad. On February 6, 2018, the Patriots and he agreed to a reserve/future deal. He signed on with the Patriots again in March 2022. After being released on August 30, 2022, he was added the following day to the practice squad. On September 6, he received a promotion to the roster of players.
