Jason Michael Castro, a professional baseball catcher with the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball, was born on June 18, 1987. (MLB). He previously had stints with the San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Angels, and Minnesota Twins.

He was chosen by the Astros in the first round of the 2008 Major League Baseball draft (number 10 overall) after playing collegiate baseball for Stanford University.

Castro debuted in the major leagues in 2010 with Houston. He was chosen to play in the 2013 All-Star Game as a reserve catcher. Castro attended Castro Valley High School and was a baseball player there. He was born in Castro Valley, California.



He participated in the illustrious Coach Burns’ junior varsity basketball team at Castro Valley High School.

In the first round (tenth overall) of the 2008 Major League Baseball draft, Castro was chosen by the Astros. In 2008, Castro debuted for the Tri-City ValleyCats in Single-A.

Castro agreed to move back to Houston on January 22, 2021, by signing a two-year, $7 million contract after he had previously signed and played with the Minnesota Twins(2016), San Diego Padres(2020), and the Los Angeles Angels(2020).
