Ja’Wuan James Parents: Meet Burkley James and Nichelle James-Mickens

Ja’Wuan James is a professional football player who plays offensive guard for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League. He attended North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, Georgia. During his sophomore season, North Gwinnett advanced to the GHSA Class 5A state championship game.

He had a four-star rating from Rivals.com and was listed as the eighth-best offensive guard prospect in his class as well as the sixth-best prospect from Georgia. After high school, he enrolled at the University of Tennessee, where from 2010 to 2013 he played football for the Tennessee Volunteers. James attended the University of Tennessee from 2010 to 2013. He began 49 consecutive games for the Volunteers. He was the offensive line’s standout player.

The Miami Dolphins selected James in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. On May 1st, 2017, the Miami Dolphins made the decision to exercise the fifth-year, $9.34 million option on James’ rookie contract. In March 2019, he signed a $41 million, four-year contract with the Denver Broncos.



Ja’Wuan James

In June 2021, he signed a $9 million, two-year contract with the Baltimore. He was added to the reserve/non-football injury list on August 31, 2021, to start the season. On December 8, 2021, James was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list and later permitted to resume training.
