Jaylen Watson is an American football cornerback who currently plays for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League. Watson was born on September 17, 1998.
Before moving on to Washington State University, he started his collegiate football career at Ventura College. During the 2022 NFL Draft, the Chiefs selected him in the seventh round to join their team.
Watson spent his childhood in Augusta, Georgia, where she attended both Lucy Craft Laney High School and Curtis Baptist High School before graduating from both.
A cornerback with the Washington State Cougars, Watson was a member of their team. As a rookie, he finished his first season with 13 tackles,
two passes intercepted, a forced fumble and one fumble recovery, all of which contributed to his receiving honourable mention All-Pac-12 Conference honours. He has 43 tackles, 13 pass breakups, four interceptions, and one fumble recovery as a sophomore.
He also had one fumble recovery. Watson had previously committed to transferring to USC; however, he was unable to meet the academic requirements necessary to enroll at the institution.
During the 2022 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs selected Watson in the seventh round, making him the 243rd player overall to be selected.
Against the Los Angeles Chargers, Watson made his first career interception and scored the first touchdown of his career. He scored a touchdown by returning an interception he made for 99 yards.
