Seven years in the NFL isn’t an easy feat for Kearse. Kearse went to Clemson University on a football scholarship from 2013 to 2015. From 2013 to 2015, head coach Dabo Swinney told him to focus on playing strong safety.

In his career, he played in a total of 40 games and had 29 starts, compiling 1,998 snaps, 164 total tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, seven interceptions, 11 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and two recovered fumbles. 

He started playing strong safety as a full-time starter in 2014 as a sophomore (12 out of 13 starts). He finished the game with 67 tackles, including five for losses, two interceptions, seven pass breakups, three sacks, and one fumble recovery.

He provided a muscular presence in the Clemson secondary as a junior in 2015 by utilizing his exceptional size for safety, which allowed him to do so. He racked up 87 tackles (6.5 for loss), one interception, eight passes defended, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

He was honored by the Associated Press as a member of the All-American second team.
Kearse made the announcement that he would skip his senior season and enter the NFL draft after the 2016 national championship game.
