He was a member of the Milwaukee Brewers until 2015 when he was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks. After the 2016 season, he was moved to Seattle and signed a five-year, $70 million contract with the Mariners.

Seattle traded Segura to Philadelphia after the 2018 season.

Segura was born in the Dominican Republic’s San Juan. In 2007, he signed as an international free agent with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

In 2007, he made his professional debut with the Dominican Summer Angels of the Dominican Summer League’s Rookie Division.

Segura took the batter’s box. In 219 at bats, he hit 324/.392/.393 with 22 stolen bases and 7 sacrifice hits (7th in the league), earning him a DSL post-season All-Star award.

In 2008, he shattered his left leg while playing for the Arizona Angels of the Rookie-level Arizona League.

Segura batted .354/.395/.514 with 11 stolen bases in 181 at-bats for the Orem Owlz of the Rookie-level Pioneer League in 2009, and also appeared in five games with the Salt Lake Bees of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League.
