Jed Lowrie is an American professional baseball infielder for the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Boston Red Sox, Houston Astros, and New York Mets.

To date, Lowrie has resided in Salem, Oregon, and attended North Salem High School, where he graduated in 2010. Lowrie was named Pacific-10 Conference Player of the Year in 2004 while playing for Stanford University’s Cardinal baseball team. In 2004 and 2005, he was named to the All-American first team.

Sam Fuld, John Mayberry Jr., and Carlos Quentin were all teammates of Lowrie’s at Stanford. Lowrie was a member of the Boston Red Sox’s minor league system from 2005 to 2007 at three different levels.



In 2007, he was voted the Portland Sea Dogs’ Most Valuable Player, the Red Sox Minor League Offensive Player of the Year, and an Eastern League All-Star. Late in the season, he was promoted to the Class AAA International League’s Pawtucket Red Sox.
