According to a report by PFF’s Doug Kyed, former Florida Gator Jeremiah Moon, a former edge defender who converted to linebacker, is set to sign a deal with the Baltimore Ravens despite being undrafted in the late stages of the 2022 NFL draft.
Moon’s performance at the combine displayed his impressive athleticism, but he may have hurt his draft chances due to his history of injuries.
Three of Moon’s six seasons were cut short by injuries, but he made up for the lost time in 2021 when Ventrell Miller suffered a torn bicep and the Gators needed a starter linebacker.
Moon had 40 total stops (20 solos), 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and a forced fumble, and he was a nominee for the Mayo Clinic Comeback Player of the Year Award.
Moon, who stands at a towering 6 feet five inches tall and weighs 245 pounds, has the ideal height for an NFL linebacker and the speed to make an immediate impact after a year or two of development.
Math Bomb ranked his combined performance of 40.5 inches on the vertical and 11 feet or more on the broad jump as outstanding, but the true challenge will be for him to avoid injury.
Moon joined the team shortly after the draft was over, despite not being one of the three Florida Gators selected.
He was the fourth and final Gator projected to be selected after the Buffalo Bills’ first-round selection of Kaiir Elam, the Cincinnati Bengals’ third-round selection of Zachary Carter, and the Houston Texans’ fourth-round selection of Dameon Pierce.
