Jerome Baker is an American football linebacker who currently plays for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League.
Baker was born on December 25, 1996. He attended Ohio State University during his collegiate football career. Baker received his high school education at Benedictine in Cleveland, Ohio.
During his time at Benedictine, he was a member of the football team that won the state championship in 2014. He was ranked as the second-best prospect in the state of Ohio for the class of 2015 and was expected to sign with the Buckeyes.
After making a verbal promise to play collegiate football at the University of Florida, he ultimately decided to reverse his commitment and play for the Ohio State Buckeyes instead.
Between 2015 and 2017, Baker was a student-athlete at Ohio State. Following his junior campaign in 2017, he made the decision to bypass his senior year and instead pursue the NFL Draft in 2018.
Throughout his career, he had 159 tackles, seven sacks and two interceptions for a total of 201 tackles. Baker was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft with the 73rd overall selection.
Baker was the NFL’s 10th overall pick in the 2018 draft. Raekwon McMillan, a former teammate at Ohio State, welcomed him back.
