Jhonathan Alexander Daz is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (MLB). In the year 2021, he debuted in the Major League Baseball (MLB).
On August 9, 2013, Daz agreed to a $600,000 signing bonus with the Boston Red Sox as an international free agent.
In his pro debut season of 2014, he went 6–2 with a 1.63 ERA in 66+13 innings with the Dominican Summer League Red Sox. In 2015, he didn’t play.
He was 4–4 with a 2.85 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 60 innings with the GCL Red Sox in 2016. Daz pitched for the Greenville Drive in 2017 and went 6–6 with a 4.57 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 88+23 innings.
He pitched for the Greenville Braves and the Salem Red Sox in 2018, going 11–9 with a 3.09 ERA and 151 strikeouts in 157 innings.
Diaz returned to Salem for the 2019 season, posting a 9–8 record with a 3.86 ERA and 118 strikeouts in 128+3 innings. Following the 2019 season, he was a member of the Peoria Javelinas of the Arizona Fall League.
Because the Minor League Baseball season was canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Daz did not play in 2020.
The Los Angeles Angels signed Daz to a minor league contract following the 2020 season.
In 2021, he pitched for the Rocket City Trash Pandas and the Salt Lake Bees in the minors, finishing 5-6 with a 4.01 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 76 13 innings pitched in each of those two organizations.
For the first time, on September 17, 2021, Daz’s contract was activated. That night, he made his Major League Baseball debut against the Oakland Athletics.
