Jihad Ward plays defensive end for the New York Giants of the National Football League professionally. He stands 1.96 m tall and weighs 130 kg. He started playing football in his sophomore year at Edward W. Bok Technical High School, where he attended. He was named to the 2010 second team All-City squad and the 2011 first team All-City team.
To raise his grades after high school, he spent two years at Globe Institute of Technology. He participated in 7 games in 2013, recording 26 tackles (3 for loss) and 2 sacks. He transferred to the University of Illinois in 2014 and participated in collegiate football for the Illinois Fighting Illini squad.
While starting all 12 games as a senior, he took part at defensive end and defensive tackle. In the last two seasons, he made 104 tackles, 4.5 sacks, 5 fumble recoveries, 3 forced fumbles, and 3 passes defended. The 44th overall pick by the Oakland Raiders in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft was Ward. In an April 2018 trade with the Raiders, the Dallas Cowboys acquired him.
In September of the previous year, he was added to the Indianapolis Colts practice squad. As of this year’s October, the Baltimore Ravens acquired Ward. After signing contracts with the Jacksonville Jaguars in March 2021, he did it again in March 2022 with the New York Giants.
