Long snapper with the New England Patriots of the National Football League, Joseph Cardona plays American football. Patrick and Margaret Cardona welcomed him into the world on April 16, 1992 in El Cajon, California, in the United States. He graduated from Granite Hills High School in 2010 after attending.
He later spent a year at Newport, Rhode Island’s Naval Academy Preparatory School before enrolling at the Naval Academy, where he majored in economics and played football for the Navy Midshipmen team. He played long snapper for Navy and started every game for four years. Cardona became the fourth pure long snapper ever taken in NFL history when the New England Patriots selected him in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft in May.
On June 4, 2015, Cardona was formally given a rookie contract by the Patriots. He participated in both Patriots postseason victories and went on to play on February 5, 2017, in Super Bowl LI. He assisted the New England Patriots in their 34-28 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Cardona participated in both of the Patriots’ playoff victories in 2017 and went on to play on February 4 in Super Bowl LI I.
He and the Patriots agreed to a four-year contract extension on June 14, 2018.The New England Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 in Super Bowl LIII. He worked a 24-hour shift as the command duty officer at the Naval Academy Preparatory School during his first season. He received his promotion to lieutenant in a ceremony held at Gillette Stadium in June 2019.
