Joseph (Joe) Cardona plays American football as a long snapper for the New England Patriots of the National Football League. On April 16, 1992, in El Cajon, California, in the United States, Patrick and Margaret Cardona welcomed him into the world. He attended Granite Hills High School and graduated in 2010. Before enrolling at the Naval Academy, he spent a year at the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, Rhode Island.

There, he majored in economics and played football for the Navy Midshipmen team. He started each game for four years while playing long snapper for the Navy. When the New England Patriots selected Cardona in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft in May, he became the fourth pure long snapper ever selected in NFL history.

Cardona received a rookie contract from the Patriots on June 4, 2015. He took part in both of the Patriots’ postseason triumphs before taking the field in Super Bowl LI on February 5, 2017. He helped the New England Patriots beat the Atlanta Falcons in overtime, 34-28. Cardona played in the Super Bowl on February 4 after taking part in both of the Patriots’ playoff victories in 2017.

On June 14, 2018, Cardona and the Patriots reached an agreement on a four-year contract extension. In Super Bowl LIII, the New England Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams 13-3. During his first season, he worked a 24-hour shift as the command duty officer at the Naval Academy Preparatory School. In a ceremony that took place at Gillette Stadium in June 2019, he was elevated to the rank of lieutenant.
