Jiménez’s contract was acquired by the Detroit Tigers on April 10, 2017, and he was promoted to the major league roster.



On April 13, he made his Major League debut for the Tigers, pitching a scoreless ninth inning with one strikeout in a game against the Minnesota Twins.

After the game, he was optioned back to the Mud Hens. After Justin Wilson was moved, Jiménez was called up again on July 31, 2017. In 19 innings, he had a 12.32 ERA in 24 games.

Jiménez started the 2018 season in the Tigers’ bullpen, mostly as a setup pitcher. On June 2, he pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning against the Toronto Blue Jays to win his first major level save.

Jiménez was selected to play in the 2018 All-Star Game for the first time on July 8, 2018. Jiménez had a 2.72 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 13 holds, 3 saves, and 48 strikeouts in 43 innings through the All-Star break.

Jiménez struggled after the All-Star break, finishing with a 7.78 ERA for the rest of the season. He pitched in a team-high 68 games and finished with a 5–4 record, 4.31 ERA, and 78 strikeouts in 62+23 innings.

After Shane Greene was traded to the Atlanta Braves on July 31, 2019, Jiménez assumed the closer role for the Tigers in an up-and-down 2019 season.

He had a 4.37 ERA while saving nine games. Jiménez also had a career-high 12.4/9 IP strikeout rate, striking out 82 batters in 59+23 innings.
