There was a transaction between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Miami Marlins for 2021 All-Star third baseman Joey Wendle.
Joey Wendle was traded from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for C Jonah Heim four seasons ago, and he has since established himself as the team’s best third baseman, appearing in the World Series as the Rays’ starting third baseman.
Although Wendle had a career-high 10 home runs in the first half of 2021, his offense dipped in the second half and he was not a factor in the playoffs that year owing in part to pitching matchups.
