For the National Football League’s Washington Commanders, Jonathan Allen plays defensive tackle professionally. His measurements are 1.91 m and 136 kg. He played football while he was a student at Stone Bridge High School. He was named the 2012 Virginia Gatorade Football Player of the Year as a senior.

With 308 tackles and 44 sacks, he completed his high school career. He chose to play collegiate football for the University of Alabama and was a five-star recruit right out of high school. He participated in football at the University of Alabama for the Alabama Crimson Tide. He had 16 tackles as a true freshman in 13 games played.

In 2014, he played in all 14 games as a sophomore, including 12 starts. As a junior in 2015, he started each of his 14 games, and his group defeated the Clemson Tigers to win the 2016 College Football Playoff National Championship. The Washington Redskins selected Allen with the 17th overall pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. In July 2021, he decided to extend his deal with the Commanders for a further four years and $72 million.



Five days after being added to the COVID-19 reserve list in December 2021, he was returned to the active roster. He was chosen to play in his first Pro Bowl in 2022 after the 2021 season.
