Jonathan Allen is a defensive tackle who plays professionally with the Washington Commanders of the National Football League. He weighs 136 kg and stands 1.91 m tall. He finished his time in high school with 308 tackles and 44 sacks. Being a five-star prospect right out of high school, he decided to play collegiate football for the University of Alabama. A member of the Alabama Crimson Tide, he played football for the University of Alabama. In 13 games played as a true freshman, he recorded 16 tackles.
As a sophomore in 2014, he played in all 14 games, making 12 starts. His team defeated the Clemson Tigers to win the 2016 College Football Playoff National Championship, and he started all 14 of his games as a junior in 2015. The Washington Redskins selected Allen in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft with the 17th overall pick.
In July 2021, he consented to a four-year, $72 million contract extension with the Commanders. In December 2021, he was placed to the COVID-19 reserve list; however, five days later, he was brought back to the active roster. He was chosen for his first Pro Bowl in the 2022 Pro Bowl following the 2021 season.
