Quarterback with the New England Patriots of the National Football League, Jonathan Jones is a professional American football player. He is 86 kilograms and 1.78 meters tall. Carrollton High School was his alma mater. He attended Auburn University and played collegiate football for the Auburn Tigers football team after finishing his high school studies and career.

He was named to the 2014 second team All-SEC and ranked ninth in the country with six interceptions and 17 passes intercepted. During his final year of college in 2015, he was once more named to the second team of the SEC. In his four years with the Tigers, he made 129 tackles in his career and seven interceptions. He was an undrafted free agent who was signed by the New England Patriots to a three-year, $1.63 million contract in May 2016.

He was a member of the Patriots squad that won Super Bowl LI on February 5, 2017. In the game, the New England Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons in overtime, 34-28. He extended his deal with the Patriots on September 7, 2019, for a three-year, $21 million deal, keeping him under contract through the 2023 campaign.

He recorded his first interception of the year during the 18-12 loss in Week 6 over the Denver Broncos on a pass thrown by Drew Lock. He had a shoulder injury in Week 6, and on October 23, 2021, he was placed on injured reserve.
