Jonathan Kongbo started his career as a pro football player in the Canadian Football League before moving to the National Football League. Kongbo, who was born in Kinshasa, Zaire was originally drafted by the Blue Bombers in the first round with the fifth overall pick in the 2019 CFL Draft.



Before becoming a professional player, Kongbo started his athletic journey at Kitsilano Secondary. His interest in football started when he transferred to Holy Cross High School in Surrey, British Columbia, as a senior.

He wasn’t just good at football but as a multi-sport athlete, he was part of the school basketball and track & field teams.



After leading the Crusaders to the Class AA playoffs, he was named to the First Team Provincial All-Stars. As a senior, Kongbo guided the Crusaders to a runner-up finish at the provincial 4A basketball tournament.

Junior Kongbo finished third in the 100-meter dash at the provincial championships in the sport of track and field.

After doing well in high school, Kongbo got a scholarship to go to the University of Wyoming. After that, Kongbo made the move to Arizona Western College, where he was recognized as a junior college all-American in 2015 and was considered a prominent college prospect.

He then went on to play college football with the Tennessee Volunteers as a sophomore during the 2016 season. His best year was his junior year when he appeared in ten games and made a total of 29 tackles.

What Happened To Jonathan Kongbo?

Kongbo joined the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL) on January 12, 2022, by signing a reserve/future contract with the team. On August 30, 2022, he was released from active duty and then signed to the practice squad the following day.
