He plays outside linebacker in American football for the National Football League’s Denver Broncos (NFL). In his first two seasons of college play, Cooper played 243 defensive snaps and registered 12 pressures, including two sacks.
He was a member of a talented Buckeyes edge unit that throughout the years has routinely produced top-tier pass rusher potential. Cooper eventually played in the 2018 campaign, recording 627 snaps, a college record.
He was a starter that year and had good pass-rushing potential. On 348 pass-rush actions, Cooper recorded 32 pressures and four sacks. Although it wasn’t a terrific season overall, there were hints that he may work on becoming a legitimate NFL prospect.

He consequently gained popularity on public draft boards, with some believing he would go early on day three. However, two days prior to the draft, everything changed.
Two days before the NFL draft, Cooper received bad news from doctors that there was an irregularity in his electrocardiogram test. Cooper had to have three separate heart procedures in the offseason to correct the irregular heartbeat.
