American football safety Jordan Tyler Whitehead plays for the National Football League’s New York Jets. He attended Monaca, Pennsylvania’s Central Valley High School. He ran track in addition to playing football. He was a starter for Central Valley since his freshman year and played on both sides of the ball.

He ran for 1,933 yards on 148 tries and 24 throws for 471 yards as a senior. Along with 97 tackles and seven interceptions, he scored 35 touchdowns. He participated in collegiate football for the University of Pittsburgh’s Pittsburgh Panthers team.

Whitehead participated in all 13 of Pittsburgh’s contests in 2015 as a true freshman, starting the final 12. Along with being named to USA Today’s All-American Team, being named the ACC’s Defensive Rookie of the Year, and being named to the ACC’s All-Conference Third-Team, he was named the ACC’s Rookie of the Year and Defensive Rookie of the Year by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association.

He skipped his senior year and declared for the 2018 NFL Draft after the 2017 season. He was chosen by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Whitehead participated in Super Bowl LV and made two lone tackles. He agreed to a two-year, $14.5 million deal with the New York Jets in March 2022.
