On April 5, 1998, José Israel Barrero was born in Havana, Cuba, and is a Cuban professional baseball shortstop who plays for the Cincinnati Reds of the Major League Baseball (MLB).
Barrero represented Cuba at the 2015 U-18 Baseball World Cup in Japan, as well as in the Cuban National Series for the Industriales. In June 2017, he signed with the Cincinnati Reds as an international free agent.
