José Luis Tena was born on March 20, 2001 in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic. The Dominican native plays professional baseball as an infielder for the Cleveland Guardians.
Tena signed as an international free agent with the Cleveland Indians in July 2017.
In his first professional season, he batted 313 with one home run and 23 runs batted in 51 games for the Dominican Summer League Indians.
He played 44 games for the Arizona League Indians in 2019, hitting .325 with one home run and 18 runs batted in. Due to the suspension of the minor league season in 2020, he did play in any game.
Tena played 107 games with the Lake County Captains in 2021, slashing .281/.331/.467 with 16 home runs and 58 runs batted in.
