José Tena is a professional baseball player with the Cleveland Indians baseball team. Tena plays the position of infielder and plays in minor leagues for the Indians. He was born on March 20, 2001, in San Cristobal in the Dominican Republic.
Tena was signed by the Cleveland Indians as an international free agent in July 2017. He did not play season and was made to begin his professional career the following season with the Dominican Summer League Indians where he recorded a 313 with one home run and 23 runs batted in over 51 games.
During the 2019 minor league season, the Indians assigned him to spend the entire season with the Arizona League Indians where he hit .325 with one home run and 18 runs batted in over 44 games. The 2020 minor league season got cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic so he did play a game that season.
When the season resumed in 2021, he played with the Lake County Captains in over 107 games. When the season ended, he was selected to play in the Arizona Fall League for the Scottsdale Scorpions where he won the batting title with a .387 average over 17 games. The Indians added him to their 40-man roster in November 2021.
