Josh Ball participates in the NFL as an offensive lineman for the Dallas Cowboys. At 2.01 m tall and 140 kg, he is also quite tall. At Stafford Senior High School, he played football as a left tackle as a senior. He received honors such as All-State and All-Conference. After graduating from high school, the four-star prospect committed to Florida State University to play collegiate football.
He played football while a student at Florida State for the Seminoles. He spent a year in Florida before transferring, and Butler Community College gave him the starting left tackle job (BCC). He choose to transfer to Marshall University rather than return to Florida State University in 2019 instead.
He took part in NCAA football at Marshall University for the Marshall Thundering Herd team. Due to receiving two personal foul penalties during the Conference USA Championship Game versus the University of Alabama at Birmingham, he was dismissed from the contest. He opted not to participate in the 2020 Camellia Bowl in favor of starting to get ready for the NFL Draft.
After the season, he was chosen to the Conference USA first team. After testing positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that caused the COVID-19 epidemic, he was forced to skip the 2021 Hula Bowl. The Dallas Cowboys selected Ball with the 138th overall choice in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. On May 20, 2021, he executed his rookie agreement.
