Josh Ball competes as an offensive lineman for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). Having a height of 2.01 m, he weighs 140 kg. While a senior at Stafford Senior High School, he played football at left tackle. The All-State and All-Conference teams both recognized him.
Right out of high school, he committed to Florida State University to play collegiate football and was rated as a four-star prospect. At Florida State, he participated in football for the Seminoles. After a season at Florida, where he was named the starting left tackle, he transferred to Butler Community College (BCC). He decided against returning to Florida State University and instead transferred to Marshall University in 2019.
At Marshall University, he participated in NCAA football for the Marshall Thundering Herd squad. He was removed from the Conference USA Championship Game against the University of Alabama at Birmingham due to two personal fouls. He decided to start getting ready for the NFL Draft rather than playing in the 2020 Camellia Bowl. He was named to the first team of Conference USA after the season.
As a result of testing positive for the COVID-19 pandemic virus, SARS-CoV-2, he was forced to forgo the 2021 Hula Bowl. Ball was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft with the 138th overall pick. He signed his rookie contract on May 20, 2021.
