Joshua Adam Donaldson, a third baseman with the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball, was born in the United States on December 8, 1985.

He had previously played for the Oakland Athletics, Toronto Blue Jays, Cleveland Indians, Atlanta Braves, and Minnesota Twins. After playing collegiate baseball at Auburn University, he was first selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 2007 MLB draft.

As a catcher, Donaldson made his MLB debut with the Athletics in 2010. As he developed with the organization, he switched to third base and finally was named an All-Star in the 2014 MLB season.

After being traded to the Blue Jays, Donaldson won the American League’s Most Valuable Player award for the 2015 MLB season, was selected as a starter for the 2015 MLB All-Star Game, and received the most fan votes of any player.

In addition to winning the Silver Slugger Award, Donaldson topped the American League in both runs scored and RBIs. He was acquired by the Indians in an August 2018 trade, then in November of that same year, he signed with the Braves as a free agent.

Donaldson signed a four-year contract with the Minnesota Twins on January 14, 2020, following a productive season with the Braves in 2019.
