On Tuesday, Hader’s $11 million salary was the highest among the Brewers’ newcomers; he will have one more year of club control after this season before becoming a free agent.

Only Narváez is on the verge of becoming a free agent this season. Beyond 2022, all of the others have at least one year of club control.

Hader was one of nine Brewers players who took care of business ahead of time, agreeing to terms on a one-year contract worth $11 million to avoid the potential of an arbitration hearing, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

The deadline for players and teams to reach an agreement or formally exchange statistics was Tuesday, which was a formality for certain teams in some seasons but not for Milwaukee in 2022.

The Brewers have ten core players available for arbitration, including Hader, 2021 National League Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burnes, two-time Opening Day starter Brandon Woodruff, and Willy Adames, last year’s club MVP.

In a single, hectic day, all of those players, as well as nine of the ten overall, reached an agreement. Right-hander Adrian Houser, the 10th batter, has agreed to terms with the team and will have an arbitration hearing in April or May.
