Josh Thomas, also known as Joshua Terrell Thomas, is an American football safety who competes for the National Football League’s Arizona Cardinals. He is 1.83 m tall and 93 kg in weight. He played football and basketball while attending The Montgomery Academy, where he was named to the All-State team on two separate occasions. At Appalachian State University, he was a member of the football team known as the Appalachian State Mountaineers.
He made a career-high 72 tackles as a senior while also adding 2.0 tackles for loss, returning one fumble 37 yards and one interception for a touchdown of 16 yards. Over the course of his college career, he served as team captain twice and started 30 of 56 games.
Having gone undrafted in the NFL Draft, Thomas was signed by the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent in May 2020. He was let go on September 5, 2020 as a result of the final roster cuts. The next morning, he joined the team’s practice squad. On October 2021, he was included in the roster’s section designated as Active. The Bills once more cut him loose on August 31, 2021.
The training squad followed later that day. In January 2022, Thomas signed a reserve/future contract after the Buffalo Bills were eliminated in the divisional round of the 2021 playoffs. On August 29, 2022, he was finally freed. Beginning on September 1, 2022, he joined the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad.
