Major League Baseball infielder and outfielder Jurickson Barthelomeus Profar is a Curaçaoan citizen (MLB). He’s previously played for the Texas Rangers and the Oakland Athletics, among other organizations.



Profar played in the Little League World Series in 2004 and 2005.

On Curaçao’s Willemstad, Pabao Little League beat Conejo Valley East Little League in the 2004 championship game to claim the title.



When his club made it back to the title game in 2005, he was instrumental in helping the squad defeat the Ewa Beach, Hawaii-based West Oahu Little League.

On July 2, 2009, Profar signed a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers. The Rangers signed Profar as a shortstop instead of as a pitcher, despite the fact that Profar’s preferred position is that of a pitcher.

He made his professional debut with the Spokane Indians in 2010. Four home runs and 23 hits in just over 60 at-bats.

Profar was listed by Baseball America as the Texas Rangers’ second-best overall prospect and the 74th-best overall prior to the 2011 season.

He was a member of the Hickory Crawdads during the 2011 season. He was chosen to represent the Rangers in the All-Star Futures Game in 2011.

In their midseason top 50 list, Baseball America ranked him as the 12th best prospect in the game. On top of those numbers, he was voted the South Atlantic League’s MVP after slashing.286/.390/.493 with 12 home runs and 65 RBI.

Baseball America’s 2011 Minor League All-Star squad selected him as their shortstop. A spot in the 2012 All-Star Futures Game has been secured for him.
