Martin County High School was his alma mater, where he also participated in football. During his time at Boston College, he participated in college football for the Eagles. He took part in all 12 of the Eagles’ contests in his first season in 2012.

At free safety in six of the games and cornerback in one, he made six starts. His 52 tackles put him in seventh place on the team, and his two forced fumbles tied him for the team lead.
