Justin Simmons participates in professional football as a free safety for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League.
He played football while a student at Martin County High School. He played intercollegiate football for the Boston College Eagles team. As a rookie in 2012, he took part in each of the Eagles’ 12 games.
He played free safety for six games and started one game at cornerback. He finished sixth on the team in tackles with 52 and shared the team lead with two forced fumbles. As a sophomore in 2013, he played in all 13 games and recorded 34 tackles, 22 solo tackles, and three pass breakups.
He was a junior in 2014 when he participated in 13 games, starting all of them. He started the first seven at free safety and the last six at right cornerback. He played free safety in all 12 of his games as a senior, and he finished third on the team in tackles with 67. The Denver Broncos selected Simmons with the 98th overall pick in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
His first NFL game, which the Broncos played against the Carolina Panthers, was the team’s season opener.
In March 2021, he reached an agreement on a $41 million, four-year deal with the group. On September 14, 2022, he was placed on injured reserve due to a quad injury he sustained in Week 1 of the 2022 season. He was activated in October.
