Kamren Curl was a three-star prospect who chose Arkansas over offers from Baylor, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, TCU, and Texas Tech.



He made 12 starts at cornerback as a true freshman there before switching to safety for his sophomore campaign, recording 53 tackles and five pass breakups in 11 games. Curl had 76 tackles, two interceptions, and two sacks as a junior.

On March 31, 1999, Curl was born in San Diego, California. He eventually relocated to Muskogee, Oklahoma, with his family, where he went to Muskogee High School.

Curl was selected by the Washington Redskins in the seventh round (216th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. On July 22, 2020, he agreed to a four-year rookie contract. Curl replaced Landon Collins as the starting strong safety after Collins’ season-ending injury in Week 8.

Curl led the club with 11 tackles the next week against the New York Giants, and he also registered his first career sack.

In a Week 14 game against the San Francisco 49ers, he made his first career interception, in which he also returned 76 yards for a score. He had 3 interceptions, 88 tackles, 2 quarterback sacks, and 4 passes defended by the time the season was over.

Curl popped the ball loose from Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Jaelon Darden in the 2021 Week 10 victory, and cornerback William Jackson III intercepted it.

When Curl was added to the team’s COVID-19 reserve list on December 16, 2021, he was compelled to miss Week 15’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. On December 24, he was added back to the active roster.

During his debut season, Curl left a lasting impression with 88 tackles, four pass breakups, three interceptions (one of which was recovered for a score), two sacks, and three other plays that were called back. Curl ranked second on the team with 99 tackles in 2021, and he was much more effective in the running game.

The surgery on Curl’s thumb prevented him from playing in the first two games of his third season. Curl continues to lead all safeties with an 84.5 overall grade from PFF despite this.
