Football was his sport of choice while he was a student at Neville High School. In his final year, he ran for 904 yards and caught for 724, totaling 1,928 all-purpose yards and 29 touchdowns.
He received accolades for being All-State, All-NELA Big School Offensive Player of the Year, and All-Northeast Louisiana. He played collegiate football at Texas Christian University for the TCU Horned Frogs football team. In his 13 games as a true freshman, he started five of them.
