Kelvin Lee Beachum Jr. is an offensive tackle for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League. He was born on June 8, 1989, and currently plays for the New York Jets (NFL).

He received a football scholarship to SMU, where he played college football, and was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the seventh round (248th overall) of the NFL draft in 2012.

Additionally, he has played for the New York Jets and the Jacksonville Jaguars in his career. At Southern Methodist University, Beachum was a member of the offensive line and played left tackle (SMU).

He started all four seasons for the Mustangs and was a member of their team that played in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

During his time with the team, he played alongside Josh LeRibeus, who the Redskins would later select in the third round of the NFL Draft. Although Beachum played tackle for his college team,

he was ranked as the 24th best offensive guard in the country. Because of his height, many analysts and scouts had mixed feelings about the position he should play.

Beachum was able to participate in all of the drills and positional workouts at the NFL Combine, where he was invited to participate as an offensive tackle.

On May 14, 2012, he took part in SMU’s Pro Day and made the decision to compete solely in the bench press event. During the 2012 NFL Draft, Brandon Beachum was selected in the seventh round,

which was the 248th overall pick. On May 10, 2012, he signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers that was worth $2.14 million over the course of four years.

He participated in all 16 games during the regular season and Pro Football Focus ranked him as the fifth-best left tackle in the league.
