When Beachum was graduating from college, the majority of football analysts predicted that he would either be taken in the seventh round or become a priority, undrafted free agent.

Despite the fact that he played tackle in college, he was regarded as the 24th best offensive guard in the country.

Because of his height, many analysts and scouts had mixed feelings about where he should play.

Beachum was eligible to participate in all of the activities and positional workouts at the NFL Combine, for which he had received an invitation as an offensive tackle.

At the SMU Pro Day, which took place on May 14, 2012, he elected to compete in only the bench press event.

Scouts praised him for his lateral movement and his agility off the ball, despite the fact that he was undersized for an offensive tackle position.
