In 2013, he was an All-MCAL First Team pitcher and first baseman in baseball and an All-League goalkeeper in soccer at Tamalpais High School.

Rosenberg had 75 strikeouts in 49 innings pitched as a senior, including two shutouts. After that, he majored in journalism at California State University, Northridge.

In his sophomore season, he went 6–1 with a 3.21 ERA and led the Big West Conference with 118 strikeouts (in 109 innings), one more than eventual Cy Young Award winner Shane Bieber, while holding batters to a.198 batting average.

He was named to the All-Academic Team of the Big West Conference.

Rosenberg was selected in the eighth round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft by the Tampa Bay Rays. He went 1–2 with a 2.54 ERA in 2016 between the Rookie GCL Rays and the Princeton Rays.

Rosenberg threw for the Bowling Green Hot Rods of Class A in 2017. His 133 strikeouts were third in the Midwest League and fourth in the Rays system, and he went 7-7 with one save and a 4.28 ERA.
