Kenta Maeda is known to be a professional baseball player from Japan. He plays in the position of a pitcher for the Minnesota Twins baseball team. He was born and raised in Japan in a town called Tadaoka on April 11, 1988.
He played baseball whiles in high school at PL Gakuen Senior High School in Japan. He was drafted out of high school by the Hiroshima Toyo Carp in the Japan 2006 NPB Draft. He signed and made his NPB debut in 2007 playing for the Carp’s secondary team.
He was called up to the NPB team in 2008 and he made his NPB professional debut on April 5 2008. The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired him from the NPB in January 2016. He signed with them and was also signed on an eight-year contract worth $25 million with the Dodgers.
The contract included annual incentives of $10 million. He made his MLB debut on April 6, 2016, for the Dodgers. He was traded in February 2020 to the Minnesota Twins. He began playing for the Twins in July that year. The Twins announced that Kenta will not play in the 2022 season as the head had undergone Tommy John surgery.
