Kevin Smith Contract, Salary and Net Worth

Kevin Smith

The Toronto Blue Jays selected University of Maryland infielder Kevin Smith in the fourth round of the 2017 amateur draft.

He made his major league debut with the Blue Jays late in the 2021 season, just as they were battling for a playoff spot. He went 3 for 32 with a home run in his first at-bat in the majors.

For the Buffalo Bisons of Triple-A East that year, after missing all of the previous season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he hit .285/.370/.561 with 27 doubles and 21 home runs over 94 games played.

As part of the deal to acquire Matt Chapman from the Blue Jays on March 16, 2022, he was one of four young players moved to Oakland in exchange.

He was in an excellent position to take Chapman’s old third base spot with Oakland, which would have been difficult to do with the Blue Jays, thus the trade offered a favorable opportunity for him.

That day, the A’s also received Gunnar Hoglund; Zach Logue; and Kirby Snead as part of the deal.
